Welcome — and thank you for your interest in volunteering with Mother Mentors!

Your time, energy, and heart are incredible gifts to our community. Volunteers are at the center of everything we do, helping families feel seen, supported, and connected.

Four Great Ways To Get Involved:

  • Shift: Weekly, 2–3 hours (scheduled with family)
    Reports to: Program Coordinator

Family Mentors provide one-on-one support to caregivers during the early years of parenting. This role is personal and meaningful, built on trust, respect, and genuine connection. Mentors walk alongside families, offering encouragement, a listening ear, and support that adapts to each family’s unique needs.

    What you’ll do:

    • Spend time with a family weekly for 6 months

    • Listen, encourage, and support caregivers as they navigate parenthood

    • Play with children and provide light, practical help as needed

    • Connect families to resources through the Program Coordinator

This role is for you if: you are open-minded, generous, kind-hearted, and flexible—able to adapt to a family’s evolving needs while believing in the power of supportive relationships to strengthen caregivers and communities.

  • Shift: Flexible, 2–4 hours per month
    Reports to: Program Coordinator

The Parent Pantry provides diapers, wipes, formula, and gently used items for families with children birth to five. As a Sorter/Organizer, you’ll keep donations tidy and ready for families, helping create a space that feels welcoming and cared for.

    What you’ll do:

    • Sort and organize donations (clothing, diapers, wipes, etc.)

    • Stock and prepare shelves for visitors

    • Keep the pantry clean and inviting

    • Notify staff when supplies run low

This role is for you if: you love organizing, enjoy behind-the-scenes support, and want to help families feel cared for.

  • Shift: One Saturday per month, 9 AM–1 PM
    (Oak Harbor: 1st & 3rd · Langley: 2nd & 4th)
    Reports to: Program Coordinator

As a Shopkeeper, you’ll be the welcoming face of the Parent Pantry and an ambassador for Mother Mentors’ programs and community support. You’ll greet families, help them find what they need, and introduce them to the resources and services that Mother Mentors offers. Your knowledge and care help ensure that every visit feels supportive, organized, and inviting.

    What you’ll do:

    • Welcome families with warmth and respect

    • Assist visitors in locating items and sharing information about Mother Mentors’ programs

    • Maintain organized, well-stocked, and inviting shelves

    • Represent Mother Mentors’ mission and values in the community

This role is for you if: you are community-minded, enjoy connecting with families, and want to support caregivers while representing Mother Mentors’ work with knowledge and care.

  • Shift: Once Weekly, 9 AM–12 PM
    Reports to: Playscape Facilitator

Playscape is a play-and-learn space where caregivers and children (0–5) connect, play, and grow. As a Playscape Assistant, you’ll help set up, support families during play, and keep the space joyful and safe.

    What you’ll do:

    • Assist with set-up and clean-up

    • Welcome families and foster a friendly atmosphere

    • Support play and learning activities

    • Help maintain a safe, organized space

This role is for you if: you enjoy children, value community, and love creating joyful spaces.
